KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) elections for the year 2017 were won by United Business Group (UBG) on Friday.
Zubair F. Tufail became President FPCCI by securing 199 votes against Abdul Raheem Janoo – the joint candidate of Businessmen Panel and Pakistan Business Group Alliance – who received 113 votes.
UBG also bagged Senior Vice President’s seat. Aamir Atta Bajva got 175 votes and his rival Mian Anjum Nisar 142 votes. The group also won eight VP out of total 11 seats.
The result of single woman VP seat was withheld as two representative voters from women chambers in Karachi have filed a case in Sindh High Court.
UBG is led by Iftikhar Ali Malik and S M Muneer while Tariq Sayeed leads Businessmen Panel and Aqeel Karim Dhedhi heads Pakistan Business Group.
