Bushra Ansari is a Pakistani television presenter, comedian, singer, actor and playwright who started her career as a child performer in the 1960s. Ansari won numerous awards during her career, including Pakistan’s highest civilian award, Pride of Performance, in 1989.
Ansari’s first dramatic acting role was in one of Iqbal Ansari’s productions. She also appeared on PTV’s most-watched shows, including Angan Terha, Show Time, Show Sha, Rang Tarang, Emergency Ward and the sketch comedy TV series Fifty Fifty.
Ansari also hosted her first morning show titled Utho Geo Pakistan on Geo Entertainment which began in mid-August 2015 but ended towards the end of September 2015 due to her prior commitments of having to go to Canada to her daughter.
Aangan Terha was a satirical Pakistani drama presented by the PTV network in the late 1980s. The show starred Salim Nasir, Shakeel, Arshad Mehmood, Durdana Butt and Bushra Ansari in lead roles, was directed by Qaiser Farooq and written by Anwar Maqsood.
The drama is based on many stories on multiple issues of the society and indirect criticism on the Martial law and the electoral system. Many major Pakistani stars and artists played guest roles including the great comedians like Late Lehri, Late Moin Akhtar and Late Mehmood Ali. The twist occurs when the writer Anwar Maqsood appears near the end of the serial to inform the characters that the serial is about to end.
