EASTENDERS actress Gillian Taylforth’s fiancé was rushed to hospital after his drink was allegedly spiked on the night of the British Soap Awards.
The Sun reports that David Fairnburn, 60, currently on medication for cancer, is said to have been discovered unresponsive on the street last Saturday night by a passersby, after “slurring and falling about” at the soap awards ceremony.
“David seemed fine at 4pm on Saturday, but not long after that it became clear he wasn’t right,” a source told the paper.
Actress Gillian has been in a relationship with David for two years
“He was slurring and falling about. When they went on to the soap awards, he was a real embarrassment. At the time Gillian was furious. Then he disappeared.”
The insider continued: “It was only much later that a passer-by saw him lying in the street and called police, thinking they’d seen a corpse.”

After being taken to hospital doctors allegedly detected high levels of Rohypnol in his blood, a drug closely associated with drink spiking.
The 60-year-old was on cancer medication and according to the source was “incredibly lucky” it wasn’t more serious.
The couple – who have been engaged since 2013 – had joined the rest of the EastEnders cast at a bar in East London before the award bash and, according to the report, David remembers nothing beyond this.
Gillian and David are said to be “absolutely horrified” that someone could’ve done such a “vile” thing to him and that the police are now “seriously” investigating the alleged spiking at the bar.
