Academy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will co-chair the 47th World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting scheduled to begin from Tuesday.
The four day meeting in Davos Klosters, Switzerland, will convene more than 2,500 participants from nearly 100 countries to take part in over 300 sessions.
According to a statement, Sharmeen is the first artist ever to co chair the forum’s annual meeting.

Established since 1971, the WEF is committed to improving the state of the world.
“It is a great honour to be the first artist ever to be given the opportunity to co-chair the prestigious World Economic Forum at Davos in 2017,” Sharmeen said. “…it is with great pride that I will be representing both the art community and my country, Pakistan!”
During the course of the event, the Hilal e Imtiaz recipient will attend the Crystal Awards; host a conversation with Karan Johar and feature in two key panel discussions.
