KARACHI: Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (Paapam) Chairman Mashood Ali Khan has said that Pakistan’s auto part makers can significantly increase exports by continuing to focus on new products and markets.
In a statement, the newly elected chairman said Paapam wanted to facilitate its members in building export-oriented companies so that a tenfold increase in sales and investments could be achieved by the auto parts industry.
The annual global trade in auto parts is close to $600 billion and in order to grab a fair market share Paapam will try to prepare the auto parts industry to target $5 billion in exports.
Khan said Paapam had been part of the market for over 28 years and “now it is in a much better position to improve research and training facilities.”
He said he had visited eight countries in the last four months including Germany, the US, Italy, France, China and Turkey to make strong liaison between Paapam and its counterparts in these countries.
Owing to these efforts, several associations and business groups have expressed interest in participating in the Pakistan Auto Parts Show 2017, which will be held from March 3-5 at the Karachi Expo Centre.
A strong presence of companies and visitors from Germany, Turkey, China, Taiwan and Italy is expected at the event.
