HONG KONG: Shanghai stocks ended lower Tuesday in line with most other Asian markets but Hong Kong bucked the trend to close higher.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.77 percent, or 21.98 points, to 2,821.67. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, lost 0.90 percent, or 16.39 points, to 1,804.60.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.11 percent, or 21.4 points, to 19,830.43.
