ISLAMABAD: Weekly inflation for combined income group witnessed a slight decline of 0.38 per cent for the week ending on June 17 as compared to the previous week despite an increase in prices of 15 essential kitchen items in Ramazan.
The prices of eight items declined, while increase in the prices of 15 items was witnessed. The prices of 30 items remained unchanged.
For the lowest income group earning up to Rs8,000, the SPI witnessed a decline of 0.28pc over the previous week, while inflation for the top income group (Rs35, 000 and above) was down by 0.40pc.
Comparing to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review witnessed a slight increase of 0.50pc, showed data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
As per the statistics, the food items, which registered increase in their prices are: egg 2.31pc; bananas 1.38pc; wheat 0.87pc; sugar 0.67pc; red chilly powder 0.64pc, gram washed 0.49pc; wheat flour 0.40pc; gur 0.39pc; powdered milk 0.30pc; mutton 0.23pc; milk fresh 0.19pc; curd 0.07pc; and masoor washed 0.02pc.
In the non-food items, the price of LPG 11kg cylinder increased by 0.06pc during the week under review.
