ISLAMABAD: PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari presided over a core committee of the party on Thursday in which Aitzaz Ahsan briefed party members about the government’s stance pertaining to the terms of reference.
Aitzaz Ahsan briefed Bilawal about the situation, saying that the government was not ready to hold the Prime Minister and his family accountable.
“We tried a lot to resolve this matter through the parliamentary committee but to no avail,” said Aitzaz. “Unfortunately, due to the rigidness of the government, the issue could not be resolved,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah and other members of the PPP.
Shah said that the government was not ready to hold the Prime Minister accountable. Meanwhile, Aitzaz informed his party leadership that opposition parties wanted to protest over the government’s attitude after Eid.
“No we must take a decision in this regard,” Aitzaz Ahsan had suggested.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had stated that the Prime Minister and his family would now have to answer for the disclosures of the Panama Papers. Bilawal also said that it was a matter of principle to hold the Prime Minister accountable and demand answers from him.
