ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has expressed concern over the release of videos of accused on private TV channels.
It has asked Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to take punitive measures in this regard.
The Spokesman of Interior Ministry said such release of videos affects prosecution and investigation process badly.
Earlier showing concerns over video leaks matter of under trial accused, the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has assured federal government’s readiness to help investigate the matter.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Monday, the minister guaranteed full support to the Sindh government to investigate recent video leaks of under trial accused including former minister for petroleum Dr Asim Hussain.
He said, the issue needed to be addressed as it is influencing judicial proceedings and forcing undue media trials.
