PESHAWAR: The suspects, arrested in connection with murder of Sardar Soran Singh, special assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on minorities’ affairs, have confessed to crime, police said Monday.
DIG Malakand Azad Khan said six people have been arrested so far in connection with Soran Singh killing.
He said killers, hired on rent by the political rivals, murdered Singh. They targeted Soran Singh after they failed to get ticket for election.
PTI district councilor Swat, Baldev Kumar had also been arrested over murder allegations of Sardar Soran Singh.
The police officer went on to say that Baldev Kumar wanted to contest elections but had failed to get party ticket which led him to killing Singh.
Baldev Kumar and Soran Singh were also business partners, DIG said.
DIG Malakand also rejected claims by proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan that they killed Soran Singh.
The case was registered on the complaint of Singh’s son.
Unidentified gunmen had shot dead Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker and special assistant to the chief minister on minorities’ affairs Sardar Soran Singh in the Pir Baba area of Buner district Friday.
