The patent quarrel between Apple and Samsung over their smartphones seems to be a neverending story.
In the latest chapter, a group of acclaimed designers have sent a joint letter to the US Supreme Court, saying that Apple deserved the hundreds of millions of dollars that Samsung paid for infringing design patents.
Those who signed include Calvin Klein, Paul Smith and Alexander Wang, the industrial design director at Parsons School of Design, and many others.
They argue that the fine was justified as a product’s distinctive look drives people to buy it.
Samsung has appealed to the Supreme Court over the $548m fine it had to pay to Apple.
