“We’re doing something a little different this year by releasing the preview early… really early,” Google said in a blog post. The Android latest version is yet to be named, and therefore been codenamed Android N, we can expect that N be some treat, just like Marshmallow the current version.
Coming to the features, the Google’s Android for the first time introduces a split-screen mode, an improved notifications and longer battery life.
According to CNN, the app which is still six months from public launch, the top feature is undoubtedly the split –screen. Google said that it could allow run a video-playing app while a user opens a different app. For example, you could continue to watch a YouTube video while opening up your Gmail app to respond to an email.
imageAccording to The Guardian, Android N will also have the ability to group notifications from a single app together. This is not something new as several apps already do this, i.e. Google’s Gmail app.
Google’s quick-reply feature would also become available in Android N, allowing customers to send replies to messages straight from the notification shade without entering the app.
The third standout feature is the ‘longer battery life’, the previous version Android 6.0 Marshmallow used Doze tool, which improved its battery efficiency. Android N will take Doze a step further, putting phones to rest whenever the screen is off, while also making background tasks more efficient and less battery taxing.
