Getting one’s account hacked has unfortunately became a norm, well in order to counter this situation the photo-video sharing platform Instagram has finally beefed up its security.
Good news for all the Insta users, the network has added the option for two-factor authentication.
According to TechCrunch, the two- factor authentication is an enhanced version of security beyond one’s standard password. As the tool requires additional information, to confirm if it is the right user, in this case the user phone number would provide that extra layer of security.
That is, if anyone tries to log into your account with your email and password, you’ll be texted an authentication code at your number, which must also be entered to gain access to your account. Well these security tools have been there for a long time now; it has clearly been a long over- due by Instagram to implement these measures.
Facebook, the parent company of Instagram has had the two-factor option for over four years. Neglecting to add this feature by Instagram has put users at risk, and led to damaging hacks causing financial harm as well as loss of private information.
According to The Next Web, The update is being rolled out, however, it remains optional. Still, it will surely add relief to users more prone of getting their accounts hacked.
