Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday said the military is committed to completing China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project as planned.
“The timely completion of CPEC will usher a new era of development in Balochistan and Pakistan Army is committed to this objective,” General Bajwa said while addressing the passing out parade of Baloch Recruits in Quetta.
“CPEC will usher a new era of development in the province,” he added.

Explaining that Balochistan is an integral part of Pakistan, the army chief said the province’s resources need to be exploited “for the betterment of the people living here”.
Development in Balochistan will ensure peace and stability in the country, General Bajwa added. “That is why certain elements are trying to destabilise this province.”
Gen Bajwa who was commissioned in the Baloch regiment said, “I hold the province very close to my heart.”
Earlier today, Gen Bajwa arrived in Quetta to address the passing out parade. “COAS will also address officers at Quetta garrison,” ISPR said.
Army chief pledges ‘all necessary assistance’ for restoration of peace in Balochistan
On December 6, Gen Bajwa pledged “all necessary assistance” to the government of Balochistan for restoration of peace in the province.
The COAS said army will render all necessary assistance for restoration of peace, capacity building of the LEAs and by providing security for all projects in remote areas.
According to the military’s media wing, the army chief, during his visit to headquarters Southern Command in Quetta, lauded the integrated approach adopted by the security forces, and the civilian government for security and development of the province.
General Qamar vowed “zero tolerance” against terrorism and directed focused and indiscriminate operations against terrorists of all kind in coordination with intelligence and other LEAs.
