At least two people were injured in a blast near a mosque in Rahim Yar Khan’s Shafi Town area on Friday, according to local media and eyewitness reports.
Deputy Superintendent Police Chaudhry Ashraf was quoted by DawnNews as saying that two people were injured in the blast.
The DSP and eyewitnesses said an unidentified person in a burqa was behind the attack.
Although the DSP, quoted, claimed the explosion was a suicide attack, eyewitnesses claim to have seen the burqa clad attacker lob a grenade at a car outside the mosque.
According to initial reports, the men injured in the attack were Counter Terrorism Department officials who are suspected to be in critical condition.
Rescue officials reached the site of the blast and police cordoned off the area, eyewitnesses told.
