At least six labourers were killed Wednesday when the building where they were working caught fire, DawnNews reported.
Eight injured labourers had been rescued from the blaze and rushed to Kot Khawaja Saeed Government Hospital, where seven succumbed to their injuries, police and rescue officials said.
One of the two survivors is reportedly in critical condition.
The incident occurred near Mehmood Booti Interchange in Lahore, Cantt Superintendent of Police (SP) Rana Tahir said.
The building was evacuated and the fire had been extinguished.
An initial investigation revealed that the fire had started due to a short circuit, SP Tahir said. However, further investigation is underway.
The building that caught fire housed an office of a company working on the Orange Line mass transit project in Lahore. Residential quarters housing labourers were located above the offices.
