Man confesses to killing wife in name of ‘honour’ in Sujawal

A man confessed to shooting dead his wife in an ‘honour-killing’ in the village of Gulsher Sanjarni in Sujawal district early Sunday.

Mashooq Ali Sanjrani claimed to have opened fire at his 33-year-old wife, the mother of his five children, whom he suspected of having an affair, police said.

Sanjrani’s brother, Zulfiqar, also received gunshot wounds while trying to rescue his sister-in-law from the shooting, police said. Zulfiqar died on his way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi.

Station House Officer Chuhar Jamali Wali Mohammad Chang told DawnNews that the suspect was caught by villagers and handed over to the police. The man confessed to have killed his wife in the name of honour.

The SHO added that a First Information Report would be registered after the burial of both victims on the complaint of their heirs.
