Two suspects arrested for raping 9-year-old boy in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested two men for allegedly raping a 9-year-old boy. This is the third rape case the capital city police have registered this year so far.

According to a complaint submitted to the police by the victim’s father*, the boy* went to a shop in Karachi Company, a local market in Sector G9, to purchase candies Tuesday evening where a man named Basharat allegedly took the child to a room in the market and ‘raped’ him. “The shopkeepers heard the boy’s screams and rescued him,” said the report.

Talking to The Express Tribune on Wednesday, a Karachi Company police official said that another man, identified as Afzal, stood guard outside the room where the victim was allegedly assaulted. “Both the suspects have been arrested today Wednesday,” the official said.

Man rounded up on rape charges

Meanwhile, Industrial Area police have also arrested a man for allegedly raping a 15-year-old housemaid. The suspect, identified as Suhaib Abbasi, allegedly assaulted the victim on the nights of December 29 and 30 as she was alone in the house.

In her statement to the police, the victim said that the family she worked for left for Murree on Dec 29 leaving her alone. At night, Abbasi, who was security guard at the house, came into the bedroom she was staying in and allegedly raped her and he repeated the crime the next day as well. The landlady returned on December 31 and the victim told her about the incident.

Police registered a case and arrested the suspect on January 1. The suspect will be produced before a magistrate on Thursday, at the end of his physical remand.

In a separate incident, a 30-year-old woman was also gang-raped on the New Year night in Sihala. Police had arrested Chaudhry Tauseef, one of the suspects, on January 1 while three other suspects are still at large.
