New Zealand Women beat Pakistan Women, lead ODI series 2-0

New Zealand Women defeated Pakistan Women in the second of the five-match ODI series on Friday to take their lead to 2-0.

A century from New Zealand all-rounder Amy Satterthwaite guided the hosts to a 60-run win using Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-shortened match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.

Amy scored 137 not out from just 117 balls, helping her side to a score of 309-4 in 50 overs.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand openers Suzie Bates and Rachel Priest fell for 32 and 27 respectively, before Amy came to the rescue. Amy and Katey Martin put together a 150-run partnership.

Meanwhile, Maham Tariq, Sana Mir, and Sadia Yousuf were able to claim one wicket each for the visitors.

History backs Pakistan on New Zealand tour

With a target of 310, Pakistan got off to a shaky start when Ayesha Zafar was dismissed for two. However, opener Nahida Khan, along with Nain Abidi, was able to steady the ship for the visitors, putting up 76 runs for the second wicket before Nain was dismissed for 45.

Nahida was later out for 33, whereas Bismah Maroof and Asmavia Iqbal remained unbeaten on 30 and 18 respectively.

For New Zealand, Suzie was able to claim two wickets, whereas Thamsyn Newton and Hannah Rowe got one scalp each.

Both the sides had to come off the field as rain started to fall during the 35th over and the hosts were awarded a 60-run victory.
